The place
The north side of Santa Fe climbs from the Plaza toward the mountains along Bishop’s Lodge Road, Old Taos Highway, and Hyde Park Road. It holds some of the city’s finest view properties, the Opera, and the road to Ski Santa Fe.
What to love
- Views back over the city and out to the Jemez
- Ten minutes to the Opera, forty to the ski basin
- Historic compounds along Bishop’s Lodge Road
- Hyde Park and the Santa Fe National Forest at the top of the road
- Character
- Varied. Close to town it is established and leafy; up Hyde Park Road it becomes mountain country with piñon, ponderosa, and snow that lingers. Privacy and elevation increase with every mile.
- Architecture
- Historic adobes and Territorial homes near town; substantial Pueblo-style and contemporary view homes on the hillsides; mountain homes on acreage toward Hyde Park.
- What you’ll find
- Estate properties, view homes on one to five acres, historic compounds, and mountain cabins.
- Lifestyle
- Opera in summer, skiing in winter, hiking year-round. Tesuque Village Market is a short drive north.
- Getting around
- North of the Plaza along Bishop’s Lodge Road (toward Tesuque), Old Taos Highway, and Hyde Park Road (toward the ski basin). Mix of city and county.
- Who it suits
- Buyers who want views and elevation while staying close to downtown, and skiers who want the basin road at hand.
